What are you talking about? San Antonio has a tremendous business sector with huge, rich companies like AT&T, Clear Channel, Valero and Toyota. And the local economy will be gigantic by 2030 if trends continue. And as far as the metropolitan area's population, there are already in excess of 2 million people residing in the metropolitan area according to the latest estimate. By 2030 San Antonio will likely be as big as Houston or Dallas is now.

According to the latest estimate, SA is just below 2 million. Also, by 2030, Austin and SA will be one metro area. At the rate SA is growing, it will only get to 5 million with the help of Austin being joined with the metro.

"How big was Dallas when it was awarded the Cowboys?"

According to one website the City of Dallas had a population of 1,180,595 in 1960 when the Cowboys first started in Dallas. The thing is this WAS in 1960 and the "ideal" population was much lower all over the country for city that could support a major sports team. The stadiums were much smaller along w/ the players salaries being much smaller. It took less money to support these teams. Nowadays you have players that literally want the moon and owners that want THE best most modern, better than the last guys new stadium, bigger w/ more luxury suites, etc for their team AND they expect the citizens to foot the bill.

Nah, too busy. The movers are here right now so I'm trying to get all my computer stuff done before I have to take it apart and put it in boxes for the guys to take. I won't be able to really read anything until next week or the week after.

Let me rephrase: will San Antonio's business be as large and influential as Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston? On this website, I'm used to getting disagreements about San Antonio's economy, but let's not fool ourselves. We all know that SA is not super power city. On the other hand, it is one of the most decent cities we have in this country.

FW isn't superpower, either. Texas has two superpowers in Houston and Dallas.
