Im curious to know if moving from chicago to irving is a good move for a single parent of 2 boys 10 and 5. I work in healthcare so im not too worried about finding a job. Your input is greatly appreciated. What can Irving offer me?

Depends on what part of Irving you are considering.

Irving is different from most DFW suburbs in that one side of town is completely different from another. Irving is home to Las Collinas which is one of the biggest business districts in the area. Alot of Irving is also extremely ethnic with huge amounts of Indian and Mexican/Salvadoran/Honduran people there as well (certainly not a good or bad thing, just an observation). I think the Northern side of Irving is nicer.

Coming from Chicago, it will be different, but the economy in that area is quite good. The schools Ive heard are hit or miss. There are some really nice middle class neighborhoods and some "english as a third language neighborhoods".

Like I said, Irving is very different from most DFW suburbs in that it can be completely different depending on what side of town youre on. Most DFW suburbs are the same within themselves.

I've heard the same things about the schools.

North Irving is really nice, but the south part can be rough.
