Absolutely!!! Why shouldn't we have high-speed rail service between the major cities of TX? Traveling by rail between the CBD's of the major TX cities could be just as fast as traveling between the major cities of the northeast on Amtraks' Acela Express trains. And, it would be much less stressful than flying. The large populations of DFW, Houston, San Antonio & Austin should justify it.

Texas public schools have really been sub-par under Perry (k-12 and college). We rank 49th in number of adults with a high school diploma! We lack the number of tier 1 universities that other states boast. Tuition has skyrocketed under his watch. There is a lot of unfairness and district funding is flawed.

Texas high speed rail will NOT become a reality with Perry in office. While other states will be receiving large amounts of cash to fund their systems, Texas will stay behind.

Most federal rail grants probably will bypass Texas | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Texas Regional News

Perhaps Perry has never been on a train in Europe or Japan.

He has only been in office 10 years, certainly all of those things arent uniquely his fault. Which candidate will actually change this?

I think the man is a complete and total idiot, much like his cousin Dubbya. However, what most people don't realize is that Perry was in a serious accident about 20 years ago in which is sustained massive brain damage and can no longer think straight. The reason he was elected and continues in office is because of the amount of die hard, uneducated, rednecks in Texas who don't know any better.

Perry and his cousin have succeeded in doing similar things. Dubbya nearly destroyed the country, and Perry continues to destroy this state.

I personally couldn't give a damn less who is the next governor or if Perry stays in office forever (which I think is likely). Ill be too busy following who will come after AHHNOLD GIRLY MAN!!!!

He's been governor for longer than any other governor of TX has held that position. He's the only governor TX has had that's gotten to appoint at least one person to every possible state office, board, or commission position to which a Governor of Texas can appoint someone (as well as to several elected offices to which the governor can appoint someone to fill an unexpired term, such as five of the nine current members of the TX superme court).
If the buck doesn't stop with him, who else would it stop with?

I don't know which candidate will actually change the state for the better. What I do know is that Perry has had ample time in office, and plenty of opportunity to facilitate improvements in the state. Based on the results of his tenure, all the things previously mentioned, I'm not inclined to vote him in for a 3rd term. Time to give someone new a chance.

He tried to force a largely untested anti-HPV vaccine on every school-aged female in the state (a quid pro quo for his former chief-of-staff).

He's a career politician (25 years in Austin as a representative, ag commissioner, Lieutenant Governor, and Governor).

He'll say anything to get himself elected - he made all kinds of "securing the border" promises in '06 and then did absolutely nothing after he won re-election.

That should be enough to get you started.
All this, and then he has the balls to claim he supports "small government." Thanks though, saved me a lot of typing.

Bill White who is endorsed by the State Teachers Association and has taken a proactive approach to increasing the graduation rates in Houston during his time as mayor.

It is great to see that White is in the pocket of the State Teachers Association - a group that has done everything in its power to destroy children's life by blocking every meaningful school reform in this State.

How any thinking person could vote for White after this endoresment is beyond me!
