Hi-
I've been through Vernon countless times from Dallas growing up on the way to my mom's parents' farm in Eldorado, OK (pop. 400). My mom's parents are long gone & we finally sold the farmhouse last year after 7 years on the market but we still own the farmland.

Someone who grew up in Vernon told me to grab a burger at Bevo's Drive-In there. Is it worth coming from Dallas for? What can you tell me about the food there?

Thanks,
fallguy

I'll be interested in any answers you may get! We have the same story......go thru there a lot on our way to family farm in Quanah (there's sure no good food there altho the Best Western there is great). We always eat Mexican food at Bari's on the highway (I think that's the right spelling).....very good!!

I see. That's Bari's Mexican Restaurant in Quanah?? I have 2 good friends from there Britt & Derek Trolinder, an older & younger brother who have careers as an elementary art teacher in Dallas ISD and an accountant in Forth Worth, respectively, who, like myself, are proud graduates of Texas Tech. I'll ask them about Bari's.

So far I've had no responses on here specifically about Bevo's Drive-In in Vernon.

Thanks for your response about the general area tho & I'll talk to you soon!!

I've heard Best Western is in Quanah now & have heard good things about the Best Western in Quanah. I've stayed at Best Westerns in my childhood with my parents, prolly in AZ & Utah back in the 1980s.

No, Bari's in in Vernon, the only good place we've found to eat there, but then we've never been to Bevo's. Good food is scarce in Quanah right now....the place across the highway from the Best Western is pretty good but the place is so run down now it kinda keeps you from enjoying it.

I know who the Trolinder boys are - they were sharp kids......I went to school with their mother, Pinkie -she passed away about a year ago. I also went to school at Tech, but it was a looooong time before you did!!

Thanks for the note!

I don't know the name of the place but from downtown area or start from wal-mart and head south on the hi-way there is a place that has real good mexican food..when you go inside it sort of has a country western look..they take your order at your table...I say that because there is another place by them that you walk down a line a pick out your food and it's no good.

Hey GayleTX-
That's great that you know Britt & Derek Trolinder...they are 2 great young men & 2 of my best friends!! We all miss Pinkie very much...one time I called her looking for Derek & she didn't know where he was off to so she & I talked about different places we'd been to in America for an hour...this was around 2006 when I lived in Denton.

Talk to you soon!!
