I lived for several years in Austin, but then my family relocated out to the suburbs of Cedar Park, and I grew up there. I remember our house getting built there, and much of the area was still forest and largely undeveloped. Of course, the past decade has seen a population explosion in the area (somewhere around 62,000 now, ain't it?), and they're building up places like the Cedar Park Center and now plans for Schlitterbahn. I think this is all great development, but I just think it's interesting that they're trying to make the boring suburbs of CP into some sort of tourist destination. Just like to hear y'all's thoughts and opinions on the matter.

Not sure if they are trying to make it a tourist destination - seems to me businesses and development are following the population and transportation corridor. If they are trying to make it Cedar Park/Leander "tourist" destination we need to find better spokespeople. Thought this article from the statesmam was amusing.

Tourist destination? I think that's maybe a stretch.

A huge stretch.

It's going to need more than just a water park to become a destination.

LeoZ,

Since Cedar Park is suburb of Austin, you may want to move both your C.P. threads over to the

Austin forum
//www.city-data.com/forum/austin/

I guarantee you'll find people with more familiarity with Cedar Park, generating more responses and more traffic.
