Hi
I have been in the military as a dependant and as active duty for my entire life and am currently deployed in Afghanistan so I have never really lived a “civilian” life. I will be separating this coming summer and am a little apprehensive about officially becoming a civilian.

Anyways, I am planning to go to school at TWU and have decided on living somewhere in the Lewisville area with my 16 month old son. For those who are familiar with the area what can you tell me about the following the area and the following:
quality day cares;
parks;
apartments to avoid;
things to do for families;
things to do for 20 something year olds;
things to do for toddlers;
physical activities (hiking, picnic etcshopping etc).

I have searched on the internet already for these things and more but descriptions can be vague and bias.
I guess I just want a to get a good idea of the area to see if it is a good fit for my new life that I will start.

post your query on the Fort Worth or Dallas forum--more likely to get info there vs the Texas forum in general
Lewisville is close burb of either town

for what it is worth--there is bus for TWU students from Carrollton/Lewisville area--close by Vista Ridge Mall that you can ride with your student id--it might not be the schedule you really require--but it is already paid for with your tuition so might be worth considering

you don't mention how much you can spend on housing/rent--that is always the primary factor for suggestions
plenty of apts in that area as well as Denton--
any reason why you would just not move there???

Denton has lots of positives
only negative might be that (to me) it is just not an attractive town--the times we have been there when our son was in college (BA and MA) it was pretty dingy and just unappealing...
