I'm from Burbank and lived without A/C for nearly 30 years. It was delightful with very few days that were a bit uncomfortable, but it would always cool off nicely at night and the uncomfortable temperatures were short lived.

Actually, there IS a town that pretty comfortable out in west Texas. It's called Alpine, population 6000, elevation 4460. The high temps in August average about 88, lows in August average about 62, and there's generally a nice breeze. It's a nice low key kind of town, and sort of scenic in an old west kind of way.

And very remote!

Ft. Davis would be even more tolerable, weather wise.

I prefer Ft. Davis over Alpine as well. I would think El Paso would be tolerable too.

To the OP...DFW is really hotter than Houston and in my opinion and according to Sperling's, the humidity in Houston doesn't make it much more uncomfortable than DFW. The comfort index between the cities is comparable, Houston with a 24 and Dallas with a 25. Now Winter in Dallas is much nicer and cooler than Houston.

It depends on what your level of tolerance is, I guess. El Paso is dry and generally has a great climate, but it can get awfully HOT in the summer.

I agree! I don't like the heat at all and if it stayed 50 degrees all year long, I'd love it. I kind of feel that's the weather you prefer. I absolutely love the rain and therefore, west Texas would be a bit too dry for me. Right now, it's raining, it's cool, and so far, it has been a delightful April in central Texas.

It's raining here in southern NM, too, and just refreshing. It's 53 here now, with overcast skies.

If you like the rain and such, have you ever considered the Pacific Northwest (Seattle, Portland, etc) ? I'd hate it because of all the rain, though.

That would be a little too much rain and cloudy skies. I love sunny days too. Central Texas has both on a pretty decent scale. It's just the heat that's not fun. I must say though that Washington state is one of the most beautiful states I've visited.

Washington, Montana, Wyoming and ND/SD are on my list for the next states to visit! I haven't seen any of those.

I plan to do that from CO, though.

That sounds like fun. Let me know what you find. I've thought about MT and WY too. From what I'm told, it's gorgeous there as well.
