Ummm, no. In my case, it has nothing to do with hating Republicans, and everything to do with thinking that Rick Perry is NOT a good governor of Texas and, in this particular instance, a buffoon. (For the record, I vote for Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians - whichever individual I think would do the best job, and think that party lines and religious adherence to them are one of the worst things to happen to this country. The term "Yellow Dog Democrat" spelled out for me, even as a child, the idea that there are people who will simply turn their brains over to whatever party they happen to belong to, and that is a Bad Thing.)

Hardly. I don't hate Republicans and I don't hate Perry, I don't care for Perry as governer, and not much as a person either. I think he's smarmy. I voted for Kay in the primaries, and though she said some things while running that turned me off, I would have been happier with her.

My opinion is that the more local the politics are, the less which party a politician (or aspiring politician) belongs to matters.
I agree with TXNGL that Perry is "smarmy". That's the perfect one-word descriptor.

sooooo ... got to the park really early with my dogs this morning.... thunderstorms heading in and we were the only ones there..... start our walk and see a coyote watching us.... not unusual.... it wanders off in the woods and i'm thinkin' .... well that's that..... get down the road a bit and turn to look behind me to see if there were other walkers or bikers coming up on us and there is the coyote again!! it followed us for about a half mile or so.... always staying 40-50 yards back..... i think he was just curious about us... i watched him and he watched us from his safe distance....

the point of this story is this:

there was not one single moment when i was wishing i had some sort of laser sited pistol so i could defend myself or my dogs.....

fwiw .... i am a middle aged, little heavy woman with a gimpy knee.... and somehow, that ol' coyote didn't seem to need killin' to keep me and mine safe......

Good for you. A very sensible attitude. Although, I might have been carrying a pistol just in case something really dangerous came along, probably with two legs.
