Are there beaches or beach towns in Texas where one can rent a condo on a nice beach where there aren't vehicles driving up and down the beach? I've not been to any other Texas beaches but most of the places I've been in Florida like Destin and Sarasota don't allow vehicles on the beaches.
I grew up in Corpus, and back then we thought it was really cool that we were one of 2 beaches that where one could drive one's car right up to the water. When I go back for vacation sometimes, I think" what were we thinking???
It is both hideous, treacherous to preservation of the flora and fauna, and yes, unsafe.
I believe So Padre does not allow driving on the beach.
I do like the vibe of Port A, being a native Corpus Christian, and all, but do agree that Texas beaches pale in comparison to almost all other Gulf beaches. Some of it is just mother nature, but in some areas, maybe we could have tried a little harder (?)

South Padre has both. The city of So. Padre, where all of the hotels are located does not allow driving, north of that, there is driving allowed and it extends to the end of South Padre where the Port Mansfield jetties are located or about 30 miles or so. The same can be said of North Padre down to the same jetties but that stretch of beach is about 100 miles or so. It's great for camping, fishing etc and is sparse at best, you will be hard pressed to find many people.

Waikiki is fake! The tour guide told me the (sad) truth.

Can't stand the Texas heat or the Gulf humidity anymore! I'll be enjoying Malibu's natural air conditioning this summer instead.

I don't know what you mean about Waikiki and that's far from the only beach in HI. As for Malibu, yeah it's nice but the water is freezing. I was there last year in May and from all of the fires, floods etc. since then, it has taken a beating.

Really? Where did you read (or hear) that?

I know one problem with doing that, is that the OP will probably never know that he/she got responses to the original question or comment.

It's kind of like when someone starts a thread and never checks back. I've seen it many times.
