Garages:Anybody out there recommend a nice apartment complex with garages?? I am coming moving in from the deep south and think a garage would be a necessity.

Utilites:
What do most people pay for utilities? I am trying to budget and all apartment leasing offices give me the same "$150/month" IS this realistic with those cold winters?

Thank you in advance for your advice. It is most appreciated.

Honestly, I think thats fairly accurate.....as far as an average goes.

In the summer you will definitely run up your electricity with fans and air conditioning, unless theres central air. You wont need much gas at all.

The opposite in the winter. If youre apartment requires gas, youre gas bill will be much higher in the winter.

We have extreme temperatures in both seasons. We can easily see highs in the 90s with heat indexes touching 100 in the summer on occasion. In the winter, highs of like 10 degrees arent uncommon, with wind chills sometimes -10 below 0 occasionally.

Either way I think it kinda balances out.

Default thanks

Thanks for the great info -- sounds as if the weather is extreme. However, on the bright side: cheers to four seasons.

In the south our four seasons are: nice, hot, hotter, sweltering.

when u first move into ur apartment, the utility companies will try to estimate your bill based on the last tenant which is terrible for them to do. in my case it was hell because i work all day, therefore my bills should have been lower. if your bill in an apartment for gas is higher than $100 a month during the winter and your work, time to call them and see whats wrong.

if at all possible, try to get an apartment with all electric and with central air. it'll make ur light bill cheaper not havin to keep an AC unit in the open window.

theres alot of nice apartments in maumee, holland, perrysburg, rossford and sylvania with garages. i cant think of any in a nice neighborhood in toledo with one... but try west toledo. avoid the following places: jackman arms, timber run, sylvania towers, christie corners

I just wanted to chime in that a garage is nice, but not a necessity in Toledo. However, a snow shovel, gloves, and cat litter in the trunk probably are!

Try the Fox Chase apartments in Holland, Ohio. I lived there once and they are nice. They also offer covered parking. Not a garage, but still very nice to have. They are in a good location too.

Here is their website: http://www.foxchaseaparts.com/FoxChaseOH/index.aspx
