I am a former Buckeye from Akron who is returning to Ohio after 25 years living in Long Beach/Los Angeles CA. I am looking forward to it and will not mind the cold particularly. Toledo looks pretty good.

You have a great forum on apartments and I am looking for updates on the apartments and areas. I will be working near the 475 and Airport road intersection. Any suggestions for a nice apartment near there? I note that Perrysburg, Maumee and Sylvania have lower city tax rates than Toledo and people seem to recommend PB and Sylvania. How about Maumee?

I'd like to be able to walk to a coffee shop, groceries, restaurants, etc. An indoor swimming pool in the area for morning swimming would be outstanding!
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you
Dave

In your other post you stressed the indoor pool factor. I cant think of any places off the top of my head with indoor pools. Someone else might know of something.

You say youre working around Airport Hwy and 475 (Spring Meadows). You also suggested you would like to be able to walk to things like coffee shops, restaurants, groceries, etc. Theres no walkable area like that near where you work. The only place that comes to mind for me, that would give you a little bit of that ability to walk to places, would be the Old Orchard/Westgate/UT area of West Toledo. The business areas arent particularly pedestrian-friendly, but you can feasibly walk to numerous coffee shops, restaurants, and some of the better grocery stores in the city. There arent really any upscale apartments around here though that would have an indoor pool. If you could sacrifice that, you might enjoy this area of Toledo. If you dont know where exactly im talking about, im talking about the area pretty much around Secor Rd from around Sylvania Ave to the University. You would have easy access to 475 and could make it over to Airport Hwy in like 10, 15 mins tops.

I dont know what your budget is, but if you can afford something rather high end, maybe you would consider living downtown Toledo. Im thinking particularly of the Bartley Lofts. An old, renovated warehouse building thats now awesome loft apartments with cool views of the city. Its several stories tall, and while not indoor, has a pool on the roof. You would be able to walk to numerous restaurants and bars as well as to bigger things like sports events and festivals.

Good luck!

Default Thanks for the info

Appreciate your thoughts. It is hard to get an idea from 2300 miles away. I am going to check out the YMCAs near work and in the area this weekend.
