We will be relocating to the Toledo area this year. I need to find a high school for a 12th grader that offers college credit classes. Any suggestions?

Ohio has a program called PSEO where high schoolers can take college classes for credit at a 2 or 4 year college. I would recommend that you contact the people at Owens Community College and find out how people who are moving in can apply for the program. Typically the four-year places have a small limit for how many PSEO students they accept and the deadline for that may or may not have passed yet. The two-year colleges like Owens are usually have later deadlines and pretty much accept anyone who meets the PSEO requirements without too many limits.

A little late, but if you are still looking most TPS schools offer college credit. I have family who send their kids to Toledo Early College and they graduate with up to 2 years of college completed. At Toledo Technology Academy, they get 16-25 credits of college if they take the classes at UT.

The regular public schools also offer college credit. I know that Bowsher does along with Rogers and Start. A friend of mine has a junior at Whitmer and her daughter is taking college classes too.

It seems in the Toledo area actual college courses are more popular than AP. Also all TPS high schools - including Toledo Early College and Toledo Technology Academy have scholarship opportunities to University of Toledo where if they graduate with a decent GPA (I think it is 3.0) then they can get free tuition at UT.

Just wanted to share that I was recently sent info from my son' school that TPS is participating in a new statewide program to allow students in 7th-12th grade to take online college courses for credit through University of Toledo.

Here's a Link:

Ohio Program Advances Higher-Ed Opportunities - New Statewide Program Called College Credit Plus

Due to it being a statewide program, all students in the state will potentially be able to take courses for credit at Ohio universities. The article mentions the TPS programs and offerings in Sylvania and Perrysburg.
