In the greater Toledo area or NW Ohio, are there any decent beaches off of Lake Erie or any lakes or any other water body where one could go, get some sun and chill?

I recommend East Harbor State Park, just east of Port Clinton. Water quality is a lot better than Maumee Bay and the water is quite shallow and great for families.

We were just there yesterday. It was wonderful.

I also really enjoy the beach at Kelley's Island State Park if you find your way out there someday. My family rents a house/ cabin every year on Kelley's for like a week and it's a lot of fun.

We also usually go to Maumee Bay since it is the closest beach.

Olander also has somewhat of a "beach" feel but it is a manmade resevoir. Maumee Bay's swimming area is man made as well but it is adjacent to Lake Erie.

I'd also check out the beach in Luna Pier, MI. It is not that far away.
