I was told most residents who live in Sylvania are considered high incomers. Is that true?

Higher income than about 90% of Toledo itself, though, last I knew, Ottawa Hills is even richer.

Sylvania has some of the highest real estate tax rates in the region, but many of the areas in the older part of town are just average older homes and decidedly underwhelming. Like many suburbs, the further out you get from the border with the city, the higher the income bracket.

I wouldnt say most necessarily...but there are plenty of affluent folks. Probably comparable to Perrysburg. Ottawa Hills is the wealthiest community in Northwest Ohio. You can find homes from probably 70k up to 1.7 mil in Sylvania depending on the neighborhood.

I would say overwhelming majority are more wealthy than you will find in other Toledo areas (outside of Ottawa Hills). Having said that, they have higher taxes & water

I don't think reputations have changed much from when I was growing up in the 90s.

Wealthy: Ottawa Hills

Upper Middle Class: Perrysburg & Sylvania

(Upper) Middle Class: Maumee (has possibly dropped a notch in prestige in recent years)

Middle Class: All other suburbs (Toledo doesn't have any undesirable "bad" suburbs like other metros)

I agree with the above perceptions but will note that most people I know who live in Ottawa Hills and Sylvania make less money than I do and I live in the city lol.

Granted, I don't know as many people that live in Ottawa Hills (only about 4 families - I have quite a few relatives and associates I know who live in Sylvania).

Most of the people I know who live in both Sylvania and Perrysburg they struggle more financially than my own family does because of the higher taxes. We make about the same or my family a bit more. I think people move to burbs for schools or the perception of safety and "being better" than the city dwellers.

Toledo, unlike a lot of other metros has not experience gentrification or the burbs to city movements that are popular today.
