The ghettos in Toledo may be getting worse but in no way "worsened ten fold". I have family and friends in Toledo, my friend lives off of Bancroft and says its not even any noticeably worse than it was before so you can stop making up stuff about Toledo because theres other people who really live there who will say how it really is.

yea, everywhere got their bad areas, but toledo ain't as bad as you make it out to be. go to e. 79, kinsman, 140th, 105th, st. clair (my hood), hayden, eddy rd, elderwood, shaw ave, chapman, garden valley on e. 79th, e. 93, 99th, northfield, 116th, and compare these areas to the bad areas in toledo and you'll see that there's a big differance why cleveland is one of the most dangerous cities in america and why toledo doesn't even make the list (which is a good thing).[/quote]

you mentioned 105th and St. Clair, Ive actually been over there and there are parts of Toledo that are definitely comparable. The only thing is in Toledo if you go a couple blocks over its not that bad whereas in Cleveland most of that part of town is just as bad as that block. Thats the only difference. And Toledo made that most dangerous list two years in row back in 2005 and 2006.... No it wasnt as high up as Detroit or Cleveland, but it was in the top 50 both years. And no we're not trying to make Toledo out to be death city, but we're just stating what we deal with here in this city and how its similar to what others go through anywhere else and for those who are moving here from out of town need to be aware of it.....

First. You were on a college campus and recently that doesnt matter as much neither. Two: "just live in one of the suburbs of Toledo," thats not Toledo. Im glad you never had a problem and I hope you never do, but dont take that for granted because I even had a gun pulled on me in this city and Ive been around numerous shootouts. That really doesnt mean much neither because we all experience different situations, but saying this city isnt that bad because you havent experienced anything negative isnt saying much to someone who had never been here before. Ive been to South Central LA a few times and stayed there for a little bit, and nothing never has happened to me, but does it mean that its safe? Moderator cut: Language naugh.... Again if I were to go back I still have to watch out for myself just like anywere else and make sure nothing does ever happen to me.....

And one of those people would be me and I had to really see what the Moderator cut: language was going on before I realized this city is going down hill quicker than the mayor plantin them Moderator cut: language flowers.... For real for real I always said this city was pretty bad, but having lived in Chicago I always thought people sometimes mad it worse than what it really was, but after really knowing what was taking place I had to say this city is really screwed up. When I say its more screwed up than what people really know, I mean it. To make a long story short, this city has been paying for something they couldnt really afford since 2002 and now wit all the job losses and decreasing tax base its catching up with them and that something just happens to be the police.... Yes after the layoffs it still really isnt noticeable other than a few crazy situations taking place like today wit the dude trying to kill a family of three, but the layoffs just took place this month, summer hasnt even came yet... Will it get better??? I hope, but dont count on it....

i fully agree with you, i guess i just got a little ahead of myself. i really can't say that one area is harder than another, because i never lived in toledo so i don't know what it's like.

I feel ya on that, I also know I need to chill wit my bad language, I see the moderator cut a couple of my comments, but it is what it is.... One thing I feel about Toledo right now is the media is overexaggerating the current situation. If anyone from Toledo feels the same way let me know.

Everyone's emotions run their language at times. Dont feel bad about the mod cut stuff. I just had to do it. I can sympathize with you all. I can see it is a subject close to your hearts.

yeah it is, Although Ive lived some of everywhere, Toledo is still home and I know its going through some tough times right now, but I feel the local news stations is kinda making the situation out worse than it actually is and making people alittle more fearful than they should be. The more they keep talking about it like that, the more people will feed into it. When people start really feeding into it then they're going to react. In this case Im already seeing numerous for sale signs going up and people relocating to other areas. Thats not good.... If there is anyone still considering relocating to Toledo for job purposes, college, or whatever, DO NOT watch the news. Do your research and go after what your trying to accomplish.... You got one life to live so live it....

Toledo's not as bad as ppl make it out to be. i mean it does have its share of crime but just keep a can of pepper spray or something. oh and get an alarm for your car and house. I've had this car for 3 years and it's been broken into 4 times. And i live in Maumee too. There's alot of crackheads in toledo, so watchout for ppl especially at night. and trust me stay away from drugs cuz thats how alot of the crime happens in the first place.
But its really not that bad compared to bigger cities like Cleveland.

Default UT is not embarrassing

I was an Alpha Xi Delta for a semester, and absolutely loved it.
Wow I feel bad for you. I do not think UT is embarrassing at all. There are some real quality people at UT that make the school great. From professors, to advisors to staff, people are just downright friendly and helpful. Many people come to study at UT because of all they have to offer! For example, engineering is great at UT. You will find great professors and people that really CARE. There is a ton of personal attention that you just don't find at other large schools. The ART department is fairly decent too. Did you know the students have art classes at the ART museum (which by the way is fantastic). I think your experience is what you make it...and I think you missed out.
