Yes "ToledoBoi4Life", let it all out. Anger brings out your true self.

Funny that I never called your neighborhood, or Toledo, a "cake walk". Dont say "as u put it" because you are putting words in my mouth. I just have a problem with people lying and exaggerating online, so I reveal the truth when possible. The truth has been known to get people angry.

I grew up in bad neighborhoods, I know very well what its like. I had to carry a gun for protection. I have lost many friends/family to gang violence, and drug violence. I have also had many friends and family overdose on drugs, and good friends along with family who will be in prison for a long time.

I never said Toledo was a great place, and Im sure your neighborhood is bad. I dont understand why you have to get so angry and cuss all the time for no reason really. Those stats that I showed are not made up. You live in a neighborhood in Toledo that is worse than the city average for crime, but Toledo as a city is not that bad compared to most of the other large cities in Ohio, and it also has a low murder rate. Thats all that Im saying.

The question of the thread is "Is Toledo REALLY that bad."?, and no its not really that bad. Noone is talking about your neighborhood, were talking about the city as a whole.

i've been to toledo, it aint that bad. I grew up on st.clair/e.99 street in eastside cleveland, so i know alot about living in the ghetto, esp. somewhere like eastside cleveland. i now live in one of the worst areas of hartford, ct. trying to save money to go back to college. compared to these places, Toledo IS a cakewalk.

This is from a Hartford thread
"The shootings and murders in Hartford are for the most part concentrated in a few bad areas of the city. Unless you go looking for this troube, the average person will never see this violence."

You can say the same about Toledo, so whats the difference???? Violence is violence no matter what city you live in.... And to say you've been somewhere versus living there is a whole different story.... If you lived in the worst part of Toledo you probably wouldnt say it is a cakewalk... The city of Toledo is more than just The University and everything west. Truthfully Toledo is not as bad as other cities like one person mentioned earlier but to say it is a cakewalk is a whole different story. And truthfully for the past two years here violence in the city calmed down a little, but now theres talks of 75 police officers getting laid off ontop of a having the second highest unemployment rate in the state at 14.3%.... Toledo is far from cakewalk....
And this is coming from someone who has lived in two of the worst neighborhoods on the southside and westside of Chicago... Englewood & Humboldt Park

Yeah, but that dude i quoted made Toledo out to be some kind of a third world warzone. FYI, Hartford on average has a crime rate 2-3x the national average. Wiki northend hartford and look at the pictures, i live in that area right by bellvue. Point in case, i'd feel A LOT safer in the worst area of Toledo than i would in EC, St. clair eastside cleveland, Y-town or north end Hartford.

Question for Toledo. Is the fink mayor still mayor? Is he up for re-election or will he step aside for someone who doesn't hate the US military? If he does run, do you think he'll win again?

He's still the mayor and there is currently ANOTHER petition drive to get him recalled, lol. He's still the same ole' Carty, always will be. You can put pearls on a pig...but anyway, it's not only Carty, but most of the other politicians in Toledo are also the same old, same old good old boys people that have been in office forever. Question: What do you call a Polish Democrat with labor union connections and name recognition? Answer: A lifelong incumbent politician in Toledo/Lucas County, Ohio.

Oh, and no, FWIW I don't think he could possibly get reelected this time around, especially since Michael Bell, the former fire chief, is supposed to be throwing his hat into the ring. BUT...Carty has gotten reelected before, so who can say? Someone, somewhere, must be voting for him, eh? LOL, a few days ago my uncle from Fulton County was visiting us (we are in a suburb) and I asked him if he needed to go to Toledo for anything. Know what he said? "Oh, geez, no! I'm afraid that if I go into Toledo Carty will tax me!" LOL.
