Its been years since I have been back to Toledo. Born and raised there. Is Tony Packo's still in business? I love their food and miss it. Wish we had one here in Tennessee.

Yep, the original is still in the Birmingham historic neighborhood in East Toledo. I believe you can also get a Packo's hot dog at a Mud Hens game at the relatively-new Fifth Third Field downtown.

My dad grew up on Beaumont near Stickney Ave. back in the 1930's and went to high school with Jamie Farr and Danny Thomas. He lives in SC now and hadn't been back in Toledo for 25 years, but was (still is) often homesick. On his 70th birthday, I surprised him with delivery of a Tony Packo's gift basket, complete with samples of chili sauce, pickles, peppers, a T-shirt, and some other things....and also a delivery of kielbasa (packed in ice) from Stanley's Meat Market (from his childhood neighborhood). Boy was he happy...he actually had tears in his eyes! I plan to do it again for his 80th.

What a wonder gift! Stanley's is still in business, people (including me) go there from all over town for their famous kielbasa. Jamie Farr still comes to Toledo every year for the big golf tournament.

Yes, it's still there. There is also a restaurant downtown close to 5/3 Field. It's always fun to go there before a game in the summer.

Packos has a place in The Andersons General store also. Stanleys is the only place I buy meat even though its about a 20 minute drive.

I wish we got Packo's dogs in this part of the state. I can get their relishes and sometimes the chili sauce, but never the dogs.
