I was just wondering if anyone here can give me an honest job outlook in Toledo. I will be moving to Toledo next year to join my husband who is currently at student at the UT Medical College. I am looking for a job in the legal administrative field (similar to what I am doing here in Atlanta). I would like to know how long is takes to find employment in Toledo. Generally speaking, it is taking around 60 to 90 days in Atlanta and I am just wondering if it will take that same amount of time or much longer. I have heard horror stories that it has taken people as long as 1 year to find employment in Toledo after relocating from other cities. I am truly concerned that this might happen to me and I would love any advice anyone can give on finding jobs in Toledo prior to my relocation. Any advice that anyone can give is appreciated. It's really bad unless you want to work part-time for $7 an hour. This is the reason why I can't move back to be with my family.

Yes, it's bad. Unless you know somebody, that knows somebody, you'll probably spend 3-6 months looking for a job.

Toledo could really fall one way or the other in the next few years. Improvements are being made- slowly.

Horrible, but might not be so bad since your in the legal/health care industries. With all the bankruptcies, crime, and foreclosures, lawyers are in demand. So as a lawyer, lawyer's assistant, whatever, you might be ok. Same goes with healthcare....

I would agree with all of the above. Economy here is - eh. Jobs - eh. I've been employed with the same company for 4 years and if it weren't for an unexpected promotion I'd still be making around $9/hr. My husband has his own heating & air company which does ok but we can't support the family on just one income. We are moving to NC in about a month to seek more opportunity! Your best bet is to work for the city or state gov't. Good luck!!
