I Am Looking For Newspaper Articles From The 1980's Which Includes A Football Team Called The Larchmont Steelers Or The Longfellow Steelers. I Was A Member Of This Team When I Attended Deveaux Junior High. Some Of The Other Teams Included In The League Were The Deveaux Vikings, mckinley Broncos, old Orchard, And The Whittier Jets. Any Help ,web Sites, Or Links Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

My son is currently a player for DeVeaux and I'm sure that you could get the info you were looking for through the West Toledo Light Weight Football League. Not sure if they have a website, but if you call Larchmont or Longfellow, I bet they could put you in touch with them. Still going strong. I think McKinley beat the Steelers this year for the Championship. Good Luck!!!

If I remember correctly you might be looking for the West Toledo Herald. I used to deliver for them when I was a kid.

What year did you go to DeVeaux? I was in the first graduating class of the junior high in 1981 and attended DeVeaux from 1st to 8th grade. Are there any other Vikings out there?

But if you want to read about things like Little League baseball and Jr. High football the West Toledo Herald would have had the most coverage. It was a free neighborhood newspaper that heavily covered school events and kids sports. The Blade would only cover high school sports.

The Toledo Lucas County Public Library might have old editions available (on microfilm).
