I'd settle for the subway starting at 6am on Sundays instead of 9am. Tons of people out and about before 9am on Sunday.

IMO type of signaling system has got nothing to do with availability of 24h service. Most probably the existing system is a track circuit based one with a headway worse than 4 minutes and again probably is being replaced with a communications based one in order to get a better headway.
