In the province of Ontario, this would be considered illegal.

Registration documents and insurance cards all contain the VIN.

If you wish, you may have two registered vehicles and share license plates.

For example I can park my sports coupe in the winter and transfer the insurance and plating to my Winter car for roughly 6 months.

Hope this helps

You cant do that! If you take the plates off vehicle A and place them on vehicle B without completing the appropriate transfer process, it will result in some hefty fines, if caught.

In order to drive two vehicles (legally) you need the ownership of both vehicles in your name (obviously), both vehicles need to be on your insurance policy (your pink insurance papers will have both of them listed), and finally, you will have two sets of plates. One set per vehicle.

If you're not driving them at the same time, you can use the same set of plates (as mentioned in an earlier post). If you park vehicle A for the winter, you can put the plates on vehicle B (Having completed the plate transfer process).

Not sure what you're not understanding, but that practice is not legal in Ontario.

Each vehicle requires its own registration.

Each vehicle requires license plates which are registered only to that vehicle.

Can you transfer plates from one to another? Sure, but the plates are registered to only one vehicle at a time.
