Hello all. I'm debating a move from Boston to Toronto. Just looking for any advice from anyone who has done this or has any thoughts. I work in the accounting industry, are those types of jobs hard to come by there? Also interested in how lengthly the immigration process would be into Canada? I'm 23, female, and wondering how the social scene is as well. Any advice is appreciated!

Why do you want to move to Toronto?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but although Canada has a reputation for being an immigration mecca, it's quite possible you may not even be eligible.

Do you have any ties to Canada?

When you say you are in the accounting industry, are you an accountant? If so, you may be eligible under the NAFTA professionals scheme, but you must have an offer of employment first: Working temporarily in Canada: Special categories - Business people

Otherwise you may be be able to immigrate as a skilled worker/ professional but you still need an offer of employment first: Immigrating to Canada: Skilled workers and professionals - Who can apply

As far as I'm aware there are no other programs available to you as a (presumed) American, but hopefully some of the other posters will chime in.

Good luck!

Those jobs are in abundance here, and as long as you have some experience I say go for it. Social scene is stellar!
