I am having a little issue here. I am currently in Thunder Bay and my wife's workplace will be closing down by October. On my salary alone we cannot afford all of our bills. The issue is that what my wife does (Personal support worker) there are not any jobs here for it. There are some temp/casual ones for 11$ an hour but we can't survive on that. She is making $23 an hour currently with 8 years exp there. We have family in Mississauga and they told us to try there. I currently have a degree in accounting and 2 years experience. My wife was looking at PSW jobs there and there does seem to be some full time ones, but we are not getting any calls back. I honestly have applied to 40 jobs within 2 week span. Should we sell everything and just move down there and hope to get jobs? Has anyone else been in a similar situation and relocated to Toronto successfully?

You obviously have more of a shot in GTA than in Thunder Bay.Take the risks while you are young (I assume you are).
I moved to Toronto in 08 (worst economic downturn) with two suitcases and found a job in 3 months.

40 jobs in 2 weeks is nothing. Try harder and use all the connections you have. Accounting jobs seem to be plenty here.

I'd agree, your options are a good bit greater. But you have to cut costs and get use to living cheap for a while. I would suggest just one of you moving to missauga, to get a feel for things, while the other preps to move down, doing both at the same time is preferable to doing it one step at a time.

I have hit a little obstacle now. My cousin in Toronto won't let me stay there while I look for a job. I think her husband is saying no. So now what can I do? I can't stay in a hotel it's too expensive and I can't get an apartment cause I wont have a job.

You could try a vacation rental like AirBnB or VRBO or a furnished suites place like Minto Suites
there are long-stay specialty hotel places downtown that have affordable rates as well
