Hi-

We are moving from Vancouver next summer. My husband has a new job at UOIT. Can anyone make suggestions for nice, family friendly communities to live in? We have 2 small children, hoping to buy in the $400-500k range, priority is a nice community to live in with good schools and safety.

On paper, Brooklin and Whitby look good, maybe near the water in Ajax as well. Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks!

Many parts of north Oshawa are very nice and your husband can be at work in minutes. I moved from Whitby to the Northglen neighbourhood of Oshawa (Stevenson and Rossland) and couldn't be happier. Property taxes are high, but houses are a LOT cheaper. In the long run, I'll save more money paying the higher taxes than I would spending an additional $100,000 for a comparable house in Whitby.

Northglen (aka "The Glens") is a very quiet neighbourhood with very little traffic and is within walking distance to high schools, grocery store, pharmacy, post office, pub, restaurants, vet clinic, deli, etc.

Thanks for your helpful reply. Any other opinions out there? Does anyone have any thoughts on Brooklin?

Thank you!
