I'm a newbie to the Toronto scene and I don't know the demographics that well in Toronto. Unfortunately I've lived in Mississauga all my life... I am thinking about renting in that neighbourhood since someone told me it's a nice area. Is this true?

Thanks

Yes, it's a good area that is currently undergoing major transformation/gentrification, and you'll witness that up-swing if you move there. Unfortunately, it's a bit farther from the subway than High Park (jumping back to your previous post), and you'll hear the CPR/CNR trains as they run just north of Dundas.

Junction Triangle is better, IMO.

The Junction is a great neighbourhood that is rapidly being revitalized. There are new bars, cafes, restaurants, fitness and yoga studios, farmer's market, flea market etc, bike paths. Many young families have recently moved into the area. There is easy access to High Park and Bloor West Village and big box stores at St. Clair and Keele. If you travel by car, there's easy access to Lakeshore and the Gardiner or up to the 427 via Scarlett Rd and Eglinton. The only downside is that you need to take the bus to the subway station - but the Junction and Runnymede buses run quite often, so it's not really a hardship.

The Junction Triangle is on the other side of the tracks from The Junction and is also a gentrifying neighbourhood. It's still a bit gritty - the shopping on Dupont and Bloor is not as good as in the Junction proper, but it's walkable to Roncesvalles (lots of bars, restos, shops, LCBO, Loblaws young families).

The Junction south of the tracks is hip and gentrifying. North of the tracks has a very blue collar suburban feel that doesn't aesthetically appeal to gentrifiers.

A little bit of a side track, but I've always wondered if the Maltese community in the Junction was still thriving.
