I am a junior interior designer in Melbourne and might be moving to Toronto but am worried about job prospects for interior designers in Canada. Does anyone know what the market is like for Interior Design in Toronto (and how it might compare to Melbourne)? Are there any top interior design firms that anyone can link me to so i can get an idea of what the market is like there? And do interior designers need to register under any formal government bodies or have a Canadian based qualifications to work in Canada? Also what kind of Standards, Codes, Regulations do they follow? And do most firms use Autocad/Revit for documentation?

I don't know much about the subject matter but I think this might be a good resource for information and contacts to set you along the right path..

About ARIDO - Interior Designers of Canada

On a general note: Toronto is a bigger city than Melbourne and has a lot of growth and development so I would make an assumption that the situation is pretty good for Interior Designer's. Good luck whatever you decide - we love Aussies up here !!
