Agreed! What also needs to be taken into account is the 401 is the most massive artery for trade between two countries doing over a billion dollars worth of trade a day. The largest artery between the two largest trading partners in the world - yup gonna be busy

The 401 is congested because it's the only expressway which cuts entirely through the city proper in an East-West direction.

Mayor Ford is a disgrace!!!..he reminds me of a fat, unattractive Kardashian sibling...will do anything for fame, to get his name in the press (which he refers to as maggots)..there are leaders who have done less and have resigned, what does it take??

Ford will NEVER resign...he will have to be dragged out kicking and screaming.

He also doesn't seem like he'll live past the age of 50.

Are you implying there's a "silent majority" that will vote for Ford again?

Wouldn't that be a shocker. In what ways would Toronto suffer if that happened? Does the city need a different mayor to insure intelligent development? I visited there multiple times, and somehow I missed one of the big stories of the city. Even watched local TV (I always do that). He reminds me of a more dissolute version of Chris Christie.

Ford Nation is so loyal that they are willing to overlook anything the man does and dismiss it as the vendetta of a left-wing media. Even if he was caught on tape eating babies, Ford Nation would still stick by him. And now we find out that his lack of leadership on transit might ensure that The Big Move never occurs, since the Provincial Liberals are being stymied by the opposition parties in instituting the necessary fees and taxes because Hudak is just a moron like Ford who thinks any new taxes are a travesty no matter how pressing the need, and actually wants to lower taxes for everyone (including corporations and the wealthy), while Andrea Horwath wants corporations to foot the entire bill of transit expansion. While I don't disagree that corporations in the Toronto area should be helping to shoulder some of the costs, because they benefit just as much as riders, it's naive to think that they would ever be forced to shoulder all the costs.

So our incompetent mayor and hamstrung premier are unable to make The Big Move a reality - surprise, surprise - and it looks like Torontonians will have to wait even longer for our transit dreams to come true.

The whole political scene in Canada makes no sense to me. My niece lives in BC and is very frustrated. She's convinced they'll utterly destroy the natural beauty of BC in search of fossil fuel riches.

That's true but Ford Nation is at most 25% of the electorate...and things continue to get worse for Ford. Right now he's about as popular as Berlusconi is in Italy.

Bozinoff said within the 49% who approve of the job Ford is doing there is a “small group” who have said they won’t vote for him again in the 2014 election.
“It’s a few percentage points but he’s going to start off (in 2014) with 40% of the vote right off the bat,” he said. “If there were two people running, he’d need 50% ... he’s not that far away.”
