I know car drivers can be morons too, but let's restrict this thread to pedestrians.
I was driving home tonight and barely missed hitting some 20-something goofball slowly meandering his way across a major street, seemingly thinking he was the proverbial immovable object of the universe. He seemed arrogantly oblivious to the fact that he came within inches of my car tossing him 20-30 feet.
Any other stories?

GTA or downtown Toronto?
If the latter, that's perfectly normal.

I agree. Seems like pedestrians don't care anymore if a car is coming. They simply cross the street. This is especially true in shopping areas.

One thing I noticed immediately about TO was the way pedestrians just walk right out into the streets. Back in Halifax, most drivers would stop for pedestrians as a courtesy, especially if they were aggressive enough to step out into traffic. But I quickly figured out that on the busiest streets of TO, the pedestrian takes responsibility and will proceed when they are able. Stopping to let them cross often results in honks, anger/confusion, and the possibility of an accident.

There are some dumb pedestrians that don't look both way before they cross the street, or think they are invincible. Drivers are bad too.

Probably about as common as idiot drivers... only less dangerous.

it is very frustrating for me when driving in a busy city like Toronto. some pedestrians are talking on their phones while cross the roads without looking at the cars...

Yeah, either that or are looking down at their idiot, er, I mean "smart" phones, while tapping away at them.
And what about the side streets where the goofballs walk on the street. I wonder if these people stand and stare at sidewalks and wonder what such a thing is used for.

All because I said this?

Talk about an overreaction. Remember your deep breathing exercises, eh.

Just like drivers do! Only difference being pedestrians kill themselves as opposed to drivers killing other people.
