How will sea level rise affect toronto? lake ontario connects to the Atlantic ocean via the St. Lawrence river. Will the ocean cause the river, and then the lake, to swell? And won't this flood toronto's shoreline?

I don't mind if the shoreline of Toronto retreats back to Front st/Esplanade.

Lake Ontario is 243 feet above sea level. Montreal would be under water, the US eastern seaboard would be flooded up to 100 miles inland, Florida would be be gone as well as much of California.

Rain will be such that the sea levels will rise to the point where Montreal will be underwater and Toronto will be substantially flooded? Doesnt sound plausible to me..

I'm just saying that the possibility exists for Toronto to experience extensive, even cataclismic flooding. Of course this won't come from "rising sea levels". The OP is obviously trolling, but it's still a good opportunity to discuss an important issue in the region - one that seems to be getting worse.

Perhaps not trolling but some one in need of a geology lesson as if all the ice in the world melted right now it wouldnt raise the oceans 250ft to the point it would affect Toronto.
