I just posted another thread about the new Aga Khan Museum that recently opened.. Well that isn't the only new addition to the city - Toronto has finally added a new visitor centre that will showcase perhaps its most historic part..

Stunning Visitor Centre finally opens at Fort York

I've always felt as though we don't do enough to showcase and educate the masses about our history!! Only in Toronto would we put such an attraction underneath a major expressway lol.. I mean shouldn't the Expressway be underground and the visitor centre above it

Hey....just be happy the fort still exists. It could have been levelled all together.

This is what I don't get - isn't there a big hole already under Fort York from that big explosion.. I mean half the job was already done in terms of a big dig lol..

Here's another article that goes into the architecture of the centre as a whole and its inspiration.

A few pics below. This is actually pretty nice, considering this used to be what ... complete wasteland under a monstrous freeway. At least Toronto is building some interesting architecture beyond the usual utilitarian concrete boxes.
