I've lived in Halifax basically my entire life, and while it's a nice city with nice people and nice scenery, I feel as if I have no future here due to the stagnant economy and increasingly aging population. I'm originally from Toronto but moved with my parents when I was very young, but went back to visit last summer and I fell in love with the city. It's almost as if I "belong" in Toronto. Ever since then I've wanted to move back, but not entirely sure how to start the move.
I'm 20 years old and only have a certificate in Office Administration. So my expertise for now would be admin work. I wouldn't need anymore than a bachelor apartment, although I can deal with a one bedroom apartment. I don't drive so I would have to rely on public transportation. Preferably I'd like to live at least 30 minutes from the downtown core.
I just have a couple of main questions:
1) How's the job market like for administrative work?
2) What would be the average price for a bachelor/1 bedroom apartment that's within a half hour from downtown?
I think you'd be able to find a bachelor apartment anywhere between 800 to 1000 bucks a month. You could go less than 800 and more but that would be an average..

I find its the most user friendly site for seeing listing of various apartments on the market in the city. There are probably tons of administrative jobs in Toronto. It doesn't matter what industry - there is always a need for that type of worker.
There are also a whole slew of agencies you can work for who will place you as a temp. Often times those temp jobs turn permanent. My company has used these agencies for Admin Assistants and quite a few of them have been able to land permanent jobs.
