I've lived in Toronto for 15 years but I don't really know a lot about this particular location. Looking at a condo to purchase in this area, on Weston Rd just south of the 401. I know Weston has a bad rep but how's this particular portion of the road? It's pretty much smack in the middle between the 401 and where Weston splits off to Royal York. There's a plaza with Canadian Tire, LCBO etc. Basically the Pelmo park area

I am sure the area has changed a lot over the last 15 years ... but what draws you to want to live in that part of the city? I went to high school not too far from there and it is pretty much a working class/lower middle class blah area of the city. There is nothing all that interesting about that area. There are also some problematic pockets around that area too.... but I grew up in a comparable area and turn out okay ... so make of that what you will.

I would not go out of my way to buy in that area... but it could be worse ( or a lot better )!

Just curious what is drawing you to buy in that area? Is it the price or do you have ties to other things in that area ex chruch, school, family, cultural associations?)

I lived at Weston and Lawrence for a stint, something I don't want to repeat. Personally I wouldn't want to live in the area you describe, it's very car-oriented with almost zero appeal.

Even worse then just living there ... they are thinking of buying a condo in that area. When you are looking to buy it is a way for serious decision. If renting you can move a lot faster then if you are buying. I personally would shop around before locking in on a purchase in that area.

True. Many people do it though...it's a head scratcher.
