My mother is currently under a lease in London, Ontario. In this lease all of her utilities (even internet/cable) are included. Her landlord sold the house (3 apartments total) to a new owner. The new landlord is trying to get my mother to pay internet and cable separately now. My understanding is by purchasing this home, the new landlord basically has to honor my mother's pre existing lease. Does this also apply to after the lease has ended and it goes to month-to-month? I understand the landlord can increase rent by a certain percentage (with notice) after the lease ends and it goes month-to-month, but can she remove the included utilities as well?
