Has anyone had any experience with this or like this? An MBA from a top-5 school in the US, a decade of progressively more senior experience at a large multinational in NYC, now a PR here in Canada, and the silence from recruiters/companies in Toronto is deafening. What's the deal?

It has nothing to do with bias against anyone/any country, more about Canadian work experience- pretty much the same as in the US where experience from another country has very little value for many professions

So how much Canadian experience is required before you get a look? Does anyone who does any hiring have inside info? We've been here a year (same job, moved offices, but now wish to leave the company)... It's frustrating.

The "waiting time", for lack of a better word, is heavily dependent on skill. If you have skills that are very much in demand (think technical fields, computer programming, engineering, that kind of stuff) the wait time is lower.

If your skills aren't in those fields...well... good luck, I guess?

why would it be easy to get a work visa to another country?

canadian companies should be biased against americans... they arent canadians to begin with

permanent resident... no idea, guess would be you dont have the same reputation in canada since you havent been there long?

As stated above, it's likely not a bias because you're American/PR, it's about how much work experience you have in Canada and the type of work you do. So how long have you been working in Canada already, and what kind of work is it?
