I have a friend coming to visit and will stay for a weekend. Can anyone recommend some interesting places to see besides the city itself. We have a car so anywhere within 2 hours drive from downtown is fine. The thing is it is still early April, and I am afraid many attractions are not open yet or not as exciting as in summer.
Thanks
thanks I should have mentioned that we both have been there. Maybe somewhere less well-known.
Have you taken your friend to the Falls itself or also to Niagara Wine Country and Niagara on the Lake? If not those two, especially spending a day in wine country is very enjoyable. I would also include a trip to Stratford as well, great restaurants, charming town and a very nice vibe overall.
When I go back up to visit I actually only spend a couple days in Toronto eating and visiting family/Friends and the rest in Niagara Wine Country and Stratford.

Thanks a lot. I did some reseach and Stratford is a small town known for the Shakespeare Festival. But right now, what do recommend to do and see there? I am interested in visiting these towns very much.

Even if you do not go during the official Shakespeare festival there is a great performing and visual arts scene year round and it really is a part of the towns fabric. There are festival shows going on now from what I can see (West Side Story is the headliner) The Gallery Stratford has a very nice collection also (Gallery Stratford)
One of the nicest things to do is actually just to walk around town, especially if you are interested in Victorian architecture. The amount of well preserved homes in the neighborhoods is really impressive.
Last but not least it is also a Culinary town. It is home to the Stratford Chef School so this has inspired the local culinary scene, the fine dining scene especially is probably even more refined than Toronto's.
If you need any specific recommendations on restaurants I would be glad to send you a list as well.

That sounds fantastic!! I can't wait to go to Stratford tomorrow! Yes, if you could recommend a nice but affordable restaurant, that will be great! Thank you so much. And yes, I love looking at those Victorian buildings.
