Well it seems someone has been listening. I just noticed on www.magicjack.ca that they now have numbers in Canada. It's not 416 but 647 which is a Toronto exchange. Right now they only have Ontario and Quebec but the real stickler is they charge $59 a year. Wow, they learned from Bell/Rogers how to rip us off again. It's only $20 a year in the USA. But in fairness it's a lot cheaper than $30 a month plus long distance, magicjack allows free calls anywhere in North America for the $59 plus voice mail included.
So, the MagicJack has to be connected to the USB port on the computer to work. Now, does the operating system (e.g., Windows XP, Vista, etc) have to be in use for the MagicJack to work? Or can you just turn the computer on in the morning (without logging on to Windows), work around the house, and the phone will ring normally when someone calls your number? Or, what if the computer is on stand by? Will the USB be powered anyway, so the MagicJack will pick up your calls?
I'm planning to move to Toronto in the next few months, so I'm starting to research phone services, internet services, etc.
