Agreed. Those Sikhs that brought down that Air India flight killing hundreds, including 270 Canadian citizens, did a disservice to their community.

Totally agree! But I'd like to see more diversity by state of origin,

In 2007, Canada received 236,760 immigrants. The top ten sending countries, by state of origin, were People's Republic of China (28,896), India (28,520), Philippines (19,718), Pakistan (9,808), United States (8,750), United Kingdom (7,324), Iran (7,195), South Korea (5,909), Colombia (5,382), and Sri Lanka (4,068).[2] The top ten source countries were followed closely by France (4,026), and Morocco (4,025), with Romania, Russia, and Algeria. each contributing over 3,500 immigrants.

Those sikhs who were involved in Air india flight killing in real they wanted to take revenge from the Government of india. From 1984 till 1995 Indian government killed millions of Sikhs. I know AIR INDIA flight killing is a brutal thing to be done. We cant kill innocent people in order to take revenge.

The trend of Immigration had increased from 1984 onwards especially from the state of PUNJAB.

In 1983, revolution had started for a seprate SIKH nation called Khalistan. In 3rd June 1984, Operation Blue star happend in order to stop Sikhs to make Khalistan.

Operation Blue Star 3-6 June 1984 was an indian military operation ordered by Indira Gandhi, then Prime minister of india to remove sikh separatists who were amassing weapons in the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The operation was launched in response to a deterioration of law and order in the Indian state of Punjab.
The operation was carried out by Indian army troops with tanks and armoured vehicles.Militarily successful, the operation aroused immense controversy, and the government's justification for the timing and style of the attack are still under debate.Operation Bluestar was included in the Top 10 Political Disgraces by INDIA TODAY magazine.
Official reports put the number of deaths among the Indian army at 83 and the number of civilian deaths at 492, though independent estimates ran much higher.
The impact of the military assault, its aftermath and the increased tensions led to assaults on members of the Sikh community within India and uproar amongst Sikhs worldwide. In India, many Sikhs resigned from armed and civil administrative office and returned their government awards.Revenge for the desecration of the Sikh shrine was pledged by some in the Sikh community, and Indira Gandhi was assassinated by 2 of her Sikh bodyguards on 31 October 1984.

For more information you can visit this link Operation Blue Star - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Assassination of Indian Prime minister Indira Gandhi leads to 1984 anti Sikhs riots. Actually that was not riots but brutal killing.

Riots means where both the parties fight with each other. But in 1984, Sikhs were killed by other indian communities. Police, Government and Indian military also helped other communities in killing Sikhs.

After 1984 anti sikh killing. Millitants or Khalistan demanding revolution had increased in Punjab.

Indira gandhi was a Congress leader and from 1983-1995 Congress ruled India. Congress was againts Sikhs and Khalistan. Punjab state government was also being ruled by Congress. With the help of Military and state police Congress wanted to remove Sikhs from Punjab. Millions of innocent sikh boys and girls were killed. When media asked the Government about killing of innocent sikhs. Government replied 'it is hard to identify who is innocent and who is millitant so we are killing every suspected sikh guys and gurls'.

Police and military raped thousand of innocent sikh girls and women. If any family member opposed them, they used to kill the whole family and showed the media that whole family was a millitant.

Parents started sending their kids abroad just to save them. Once it was hard to see any young girl and boy in Punjab. Because Either youth immigrated or have been killed.

This is a story of immigration from Punjab state.

USA is a favourite country, since immigration laws are strict there. Entry in canada has been relatively easy.

Please feel free to ask any more questions.

Regards,

Manpreet
