All Doctors Search | Doctor Search | College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

this is the website where you would find doctors or specialists who are accepting new patients, actually they use to have that option to check off but they may not.....great hospitals would be mt sinai, sunnybrook (it depends where you live)

try kijiji as well, viewit.ca, mls.ca, toronto star or sun (local papers), hometrader.ca, so on.....
So being that your husband is working in the downtown core, I would suggest staying in the toronto area however there is always the suburbs (thornhill, vaughan, richmond hill, markham, mississauga) would all be suburbs I'd look at. If you like to a more downtown type feel and not a 30 or more min commute (1 hour or more in traffic) into the core then I'd stick with north Toronto, northyork or etobicoke (my opinion).

We really like UHC PPO that it covers everything under its network. Too bad we can't keep it in Canada.
Thanks again for your answers.
Have your husband check out the benefits offered by his employer. The supplemental health insurance is a standard benefit for most positions and employers. They usually cover prescriptions, dental and non-basic medical costs such as semi-private room in a hospital, etc. The Canadian health system covers all doctor costs, office visits, lab work, x-rays or other scans, hospital stays (in a ward), emergency room visits etc.

Thank you for the info. After you told me, I have checked the package which shows the company will offer the supplemental health insurance.

I spent 5 years without health benefits from employers as an immigrant. Between family dr, specialist, prescriptions, a surgery, a birth and ER visits, I spent about $50 on prescriptions, about $20 on phone in hospital, about $1000 dental and didn't share a room. I don't know about downtown, but none of the hospitals I've been in around west gta have asked me to share room in over 10 years. So, in a 5 year period without employer provided health insurance, work benefits would have cost a company about $1070. It's a bonus if your employer has benefits, but in my experience, you can survive just fine in Toronto without benefits. The dentist is the most expensive medical bill I ever face. My employer has paid out $2000 in the just 1 year to my dentist.
I wouldn't worry about health benefits except for the dentist.
