As we know, the Burlington area is part of the Hamilton Census Metropolitan Area. And The former township of Flamborough sits right on top of Burlington. Burlington is also part of Greater Toronto Area. Many sites outside Canada define the Toronto urban area as being from Stoney Creek to Clarington. Hamilton will also get all day Go Trains Service within the next couple of years (GO unveils all-day trains plan) Therefore, show Hamilton be a part of the Greater Toronto Area.
No that's a bit overdoing it. I don't even think Oshawa is included in the GTA. If you link hamilton you might as well link Niagara as well, so it won't happen.

Usually the GTA is Burlington to Clarington. Niagara and Hamilton are seperate, always have been.
What matters is not the size/population, it is the density esp in between. If there is vast farmland in between, what's the point. It is just a term. You can include Montreal if you want, but that doesn't make a difference.
The way i see it, If a large portion of the population is making a regular commute to Toronto than it is in the GTA. For me, the GTA is from Oakville to Whitby and Aurora in the north end.
Even people in the outer suburbs like Oakville and Mississauga have very little in common with people from Toronto or the inner suburbs like North York.

how is that overdoing it ? wouldn't that give it an area more comparable to that of metro Denver, Houston, Chicago ?
in the US the metro area would be known as one with at least 7 million people due to the larger area being recognized.
I think eventually Edmonton and Calgary will be known more as one big area than 2 separate cities.
