G'day, if you decide to settle, I can tell you where to buy staples (e.g., happy little vegemite, tim tams, etc). There is also a place on Cumberland St (#142) called Hemingway's for Aussie grub. Good place to go to on Jan 26th to celebrate the land that is girth by sea! I moved to Toronto from Adelaide and the first winter back in North America was interesting to say the least, but I adjusted.

Thanks all for the comments.
Looks like we are moving to Toronto come late July. We visited a few places while we were there a few weeks back and really liked Kingsway and Leaside so they are top of the list - just got to find a good rental.
And thanks for the comments on the Aussie food - don't know where we would be without Vegemite, particularly on on the eldest's sandwiches so we'll be stocking up.

Mate no need to bring Vegemite and you won't need to settle for pommy Marmite.. I can tell you where to get the real stuff!
At a pommy bakery on Islington! Tim Tams are also easy to find..

I'm wondering if you'd come to any decisions? We are in a similar situation (young family moving to Toronto in July) and we're struggling to find places that feel right to us. Either - too small/expensive/out of comfortable commute range. I'd be curious to see how you thought things compared to Australia - especially if you're from Sydney or Melbourne (we lived in Sydney and travelled extensively in Melbourne as well) so I'd welcome any comparisons you've made. BTW...we lived in the CBD/pyrmont area before having our daughter, and then moved to Manly when she was born. LOVED both places for very different reasons. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
