They've got more issues then just SUA. Rusty pickup truck frames, sludged engines, bad fuel systems to name a few. This is a company which claimed to stand heads and shoulders above the rest for quality and has been shown to be covering issues to maintain that image.
The only thing related to Toyota that caused problems originated in a dealership that installed wrong mats from another model.
I know that Congress members will be unlikely to apologize, but the Congress people that spoke on the (unfound) basis that Toyota vehicles definitely had electronics problems (before proof) and that Toyota was definitely responsible (before proof) for deaths, injuries and damage - should apologize. Why should they apologize? Because Toyota did nothing wrong, but were most definitely falsely accused.
Toyota has no more "issues" than other car makers, and based on the large number of Toyotas sold they are better than most...if not the best. Let's not forget that we have a governmental department/agency that knows what is going on at the factories, with customer complaints, manufacturing problems, etc., etc. and it is this agency that determines when the public is alerted about problems and if recalls are made. Toyota withheld (or covered) no information.

This thing has been going on a long time and there have been a bunch more stories then just that state trooper and his family in that borrowed Lexus ES. There are also many other issues involving many other systems in many other vehicles. It all comes back to hiding the evidence and covering up any faults.
I'm not going to waste time arguing with someone who is dead set on believing Toyota is totally free of blame and has ignored all the other recalls they've done over the past year, but I'll post just this one article for everyone else with an open mind on how this company does business and why they are in trouble and why they are losing sales and market share.

You go to tell that that dead kid's mom and dad to wear a "Stupid" sign.
Blah blah blah. Should all we join in and post stories about someone dying in some car due to some sort of defect? You know this happens to all manufacturers right? If you're concerned with that particular issue go start a new thread about it, this one is about a failed witch hunt where the "culprit" didn't actually do anything wrong.
As an aside, I don't own a Toyota/Lexus (never have), don't like the cars very much for my own uses and don't own Toyota stock.
Also, we all know honest the government is. All it takes is a little money changing hands.
We could direct that statement at just about anything and hope for it to be true. At this point it's just conspiracy theory, not unlike the initial suspicion cast towards Toyota in the first place.
I thnik some in congress need to appolgize for their staements to the predient of Toyota for what they sadi now that the report is in.Seems on;ly fair after the brow beating he got from them.
As I said before, I will wait for the official investigation to complete before deciding. Now that it apparently has I will accept the results unless, of course, it comes out that they missed something. I'm still not buying a Toyota though.

YES, we could direct that statement at just about anything because for MANY things it is TRUE.
