Dump a bunch of E85 in the tank just for the test or straight rubbing alcohol. May not run well, but will pass sniffing test.

This post is based on a lie the shop doesn't get paid unless the car passes. Having lived in California for 52 years this is not true, so the entire premise loses all validity.
