Someone is interested in my car but before this time my dad has pretty much done everything and anything that has to do with cars; buying and selling them and now he's leaving this all up to me and I am CLUELESS. I'm trying to find a good price to sell my car for and was wondering if you guys could help me out.
- 2003 Rav 4- standard edition
- 119,000 miles
- Automatic transmisison
-AWD
-Power windows
- New all weather tires (2)
-Good condition minus a few minor repairs
-Well maintained throughout the time I've had it
- New Paint job 3 years ago
IDk what other information is necessary; um I bought it for 5600 in 2012.
check out kbb dot com and input the details of your car. No, your car isn't in perfect condtion btw. no one is unless its been in a room for years and hasn't seen the sun, rain, salt, etc
after inputing some info of your car into kbb for my area, priced at "good" condition, it came out to $5394, which isn't too far off from what you paid for. obviously you'll get less than what you paid for. I'd suggest start at $5,200 and go from there. set a low minimum you'll sell it for.
dealers use black book pricing aka auction prices so it will be less. probably looking at $3,300 or so for it if you sell it to a dealer. Try CarMax. who knows, but the closer to $5,300 you are offered the better.
OP mentioned it had new paint 3 years ago and they bought it 3 years ago; would make me wonder as a buyer if there was there an accident that required it, or was there just some poor paint condition or body work that needed to be taken care of before or just after their purchase

Thanks everyone!
And no prior accident the paint in one spot was chipped and there were a few scratches and we couldn't find a matching color (a generic brand of paint) so we just re did the whole car
