I'd look at a Honda Fit or Accord over a Yaris or Corolla.

Me thinks the Accord is out of his price range. Plus it has a CVT transmission (4 Cylinder). Bad recommendation

I'm still mulling over lumping the remainder payments of the Liberty along with the potential new vehicle payment.
I may just get this latest woe repaired and paid, continue paying off the finance amount, and just utilize a rental for long trips.
I realize how much of a mistake it was to get this Liberty, but seeing as how difficult it was to get approved for the Liberty on my credit, I figure stay the course and get a better vehicle once this thing is paid in full.

Personally I'm not a fan of the Yaris. I think it's too small. The Corolla on the other hand is about the perfect size for city driving and general use. The Corolla is also arguably the most reliable car ever built. It's not uncommon to see old Corolla's with 500K miles without major engine work.

Either car will be extremely reliable so don't let that sway your decision. Buy the car that best fits your needs. Food for thought.. The Camry is a larger car than the Corolla with basically the same mileage for about $2K more so keep that in mind if you need something a bit larger.

Downer to the Yaris is that there is no manual trans and it is a bit more expensive than the other cars.

Both of these cars are pretty reliable - they've been mechanically the same for 10 years! Same 4 speed A/T, pretty much the same engine ... Bland, not newest technology, but works and it works well!

Seems like I'm now being pushed into Camry or Corolla land.
If I finally decide to bite the bullet and go with the trade-in, then the Corolla or Nissan Versa sounds like the thing.
Right now I've made up a three-pronged approach.

1)Wait until the transmission work on the Liberty is paid off and several more total vehicle payments are made.
2)Trade appraisal for trade-in value, plus get a little extra money saved for a down.
3)Keep that particular vehicle until paid off and then seek out a new Diesel pickup w/4x4 and manual later down the line once credit is fully fixed.

Trust me, it's even more of powerless feeling when you don't know how to fix it and it's all the way in another state.
And it still needs to be paid off.

Why not look at the Ford Fiesta and Focus! I'm really liking a Focus Hatchback in my future!
