Anyone give help on installing a temporary switch or push button on a Toyota Tundra?
The power to the horn via the relay, first exits the clockspring which appears to be bad.
So, we need the install a simple push button switch between the clockspring and the horn relay.
The issue at present is what color wire from the clockspring powers the horn?
Unfortunately the clockspring controls the cruise control, airbag and horn making it more complicated.
the clock spring also controls the airbag is the airbag light on? Could be a fail on an inspection
Yes airbag and maybe the cruise control too. The guy has already had everything inspected and the only thing that did not pass was the main horn.
He has to get it inspected by Monday before going to court. I guess he got a ticket for not having his car inspected by some date in time. The mechanic who'll inspect the car only needs to hear the horn sound one time. Where to put the push button switch is the issue. Between the clockspring and relay box under the hood or between the relay box and the horn.
Or one wire from the new switch to the positive terminal on the battery and the other wire straight to the power wire that feeds the horn (wherever it is located - under the bumper or near the grill)
As we understand it the panic button is for the alarm system which was not a factory system. It's sound is not coming from the truck's original horn.
The push button switch will be connected between the relay and the horn, or a direct connection from the battery to the horn. He needs one beep out of the car's horn to pass the inspection as everything else has been inspected and found to be fine.
Your best bet is to go to the auto parts store get some wire a push button switch and an aftermarket horn. That way you dont hack the crap out of your stock wire harness. Just need power with a fuse a switch and a ground simple circut no relays. Best of all no chance of accidently screwing up and deploying the air bag.
