The OP never said WHERE the leak was coming from. It could be as simple as a valve cover or cam seal.
Without the additional info, one can only make wild guesses as to what to do.
However, none of that oil leak fix stuff will ever work. Snake oil.
OP, figure out where the leak is coming from. Pretty easy to check if it is the oil pan gasket. Clean the oil pan really good. Don't use a degreaser, just wipe it off real good, get it as clean as you can.
Then drive it and park it, putting something like cardboard underneath (make sure it is flat so it doesn't fold up and tough any hot engine surfaces) and later check to see if the oil drips are coming from the area of the oil pan gasket. A mirror might help you see better. If it is the oil pan gasket, just get it replaced.
Be wary of using any liquid or something like that to fix a mechanical problem.
If it just a few drops every once in a while, weigh the costs of fixing vs the drip.
Have you checked the oil drain plug to make sure it is tight? That could be it especially given the age of the car and the number of times that plug has been on and off and probably never had the drain plug washer replaced.
That shop? Don't go there anymore. They should have been able to tell you where the leak was.
Next time you get the oil changed, ask the lube shop to check it for you. Pretty easy to tell if you're under the car looking up. Not like they will charge you to look.
We just had it checked out and there are a few minor leaks. To be expected for a car with 194k. One by the timing belt and the other is etiher a rear main or oil pan. The mechanic said he would not do anything to them becuse it is very little but would definately fix the timing belt seal when they do the belt. It is about due so that will be done somethime this year($750). He actually offered to buy it for $4k if she was going to sell it. She loves this thing and will drive it until it dies.
Just a side note: she put some cardboard down and it doesnt leak every day and I checked the oil a few times now and it is still full and clean.
