You can put a GM V8 in just about anything.
A guy I work with dropped a 6.2 from a late 2000's GTO in a '90's 3-Series.
That thing is just crazy. And it sounds amazing.

I am looking at the possibility of doing the same, I have a 2.4 & planned on swapping it with a 3.4 until I checked out the 3.5 !
Now it’s more research !

Beside the mechanical with modern engines you have to be a electrical genus to get it wired up alright.

The FWD version you speak of would be a tight job even with some creative welders. HOWEVER, the version used in the Taco and 4Runner is essentially the same motor, but IIRC not dual cycle and ... not only does it fit in the AWD/RWD vehicles...Its been done. Join toyota nation ....
