I had a similar experience with a dealer in Indiana when I purchased a "previously owned" Camry. I was given two keys but did not try them both before leaving with the car and it turned out that one was not for this car. They would not give me another key and I ended up having to purchase one.
My previous Camry, a 1994 model, had saved my life in a crash. I have cancer in my bones and even my weakened bones were not damaged in an accident that totaled the car! I will buy Toyotas forever but never at that dealer again and I share my negative experience with them with anybody who asks me about Toyotas! They'd have been wise to give me a key and save their reputation.
