Drive one and see how you like it. The power is there when you need it, and you are in control of it with the accelerator. If you are a good driver you already know that.
That's my wife's 2010 Rav4 V6 with a set of Blizzak tires:
Up there I wouldn't hesitate to get the AWD V6 model. The higher altitudes suck power from naturally aspirated engines, and it can get icy up on some of the mountain and high country roads. If it's a good car, I would definitely buy it over a comparable 4 cyl model. There don't seem to be many V6 models. Someone in my family has one and it's quick and nice to drive. Nice in snow too.
That's ridiculous! The V6 Rav4, up to the year 2013, is highly sought by car buyers because this motor is very reliable, and relatively cheap on fuel. My wife, who is I would say..."a timid driver" has no trouble whatsoever driving on ice and snow during the long winters of the interior of Alaska. The extra power is a bonus when you need to pass other vehicles at highway speeds. My 2009 Forester with a 170HP 4-cylinder motor was quite anemic when trying to pass other vehicles.
Agreed. One of my best friends bought a RAV4 V6 AWD for his wife. She's 5'1 and 100 pounds soaking wet while holding a brick in each hand. She's been driving it for five years.
Absolutely, routinely rated as one of the best used vehicles to get. More reliable than the 4 cylinders. Gives the RAV 3500lbs towing capacity. Oodles of power for when you want it, able to leave many sporty cars in the dust. Very spacious for a "compact" SUV, especially with the large underfloor storage. All attributes that will make it hold its value very well.
My wife loves hers and it's also our grocery getter/road tripper/mountain explorer/beach mobile. You may not outright need the power but it surely is nice to have on tap for situations that call for it.

The way you described her made me LOL!
How much do these vehicles run for?
Did they stop making the RAV4 V6 AWD one?
If so, what is the last year that they were made? And how much would a used one cost, if that is the case?

Thanks for sharing the picture with us, Ray
Did they stop making it with a V6? If so, what is the last year model they made it with a V6?
If the V6 is only available in used models, how much do they tend to go for?
Is this car also considered safe if you happen to be in an accident & or hit by someone else?
My mother has one with the 270HP engine. She's probably the most timid driver ever and I don't think I've ever heard her complain about the power. She likes it
I've taken it for a drive now and then, and to be honest don't really consider it overpowered. Not like I drive around with it pinned to the floor all the time. But then again, I'm used to driving 300+HP vehicles so to me, 270HP is rather timid.
But, I will echo some of the sentiments said. Very smooth engine, and never any issues with the drivetrain. The power helps with merging and overcoming slower cars on the freeway. I find it plenty manageable.

Sales are a little different in Alaska (more expensive). What you can do is to is to search in the NADA used car book for the area you live at by zip code. That will give you a better idea of what the Rav4 V6 goes for in your area. I would also look at used Rav4 at the local Toyota dealers. The 2010 Rav4 above belongs to my wife; I traded a 2009 Subaru Forester with 16,000 miles for it. The Rav4 had 20,000 miles, still under the factory warranty. The dealer wanted $21,000 for it, but took my offer of $1,000 less.
As with other automobiles, the 2010 Rav4 has airbags in front and the sides, so I imagine it's just as safe as similar SUV's.
Blizzak tires are just winter tires without metallic studs. Instead of studs, the rubber on the treads contain an abrasive material that assist with traction when driving on ice. They are very popular with drivers in the interior of Alaska where ice and packed snow accumulates on the roads.
