I just bought a 2008 Prius last week and I love it! I went from a 4 cyl. Sentra to the Prius, and to me, it has a lot more power when needed. When I get on the freeway, I really notice how much easier it is to get up to speed. It's also very comfortable and feels so spacious. I mainly bought it because we're soon having twins and the back seat is plenty big for two baby seats, plus the stroller fits in the back with room left over. I also like how you sit up higher than in the Sentra.
So far I'm averaging about 46 mpg. in the city. I can already see that your driving habits (stomping on the gas) really effect the mileage.
Jeremy Clarkson, one of the presenters on Top Gear, the greatest motoring program on British tv, lol'd at it.

Oh gawd- the snobby british accent. First Simon Cowell, now this. Is anything American good enough for the british snobbery? If we ~have~ to sit through a british presentaion, can we see Mr. Bean? At least he would make all those nose twisting faces to go with his test drive.
I would never buy a hybrid car. They can't carry much weight and it takes some over 12 seconds just to reach 60 MPH. How can that be an issue with modern technology? It's ridiculous.
Who takes over 12 seconds to reach 60 in their Prius???? Sure not me. It has good pick up .....I have to watch it or I'm going 80 without knowing it and at 48-52 average mpg while I'm doing it

He was spot on.
A hybrid makes ZERO sense in Europe. Because diesel is cheaper than petrol.
And ANY diesel passenger car will embarrass the prius in terms of efficiency.
I wish that was the case here with diesel prices.
